THE 2024 MG ZS has been given a mid-cycle facelift, but wait a minute, didn't the Sino British automaker give its popular subcompact crossover a facelift already?

Why yes, they did more than two years ago, but that was only for the turbocharged ZS T. The non-turbo variants remained largely unchanged, but now in 2024, the facelift has been applied to the turbocharged ZS T. Oh, and the ZS T has also been discontinued in favor of these two remaining non-turbo variants.

That's not exactly a bad thing, mind you, since the ZS T's positioning is too close to the MG One, a much larger and more modern compact crossover SUV. But back to the facelifted 2024 MG ZS; this model gets every aesthetic upgrade from the ZS T, which means its front fascia now has a hexagonal grille with a sporty Obsidian Matrix mesh design. Flanking it are a pair of new LED headlight clusters. It also gets the same front and rear bumpers as the now-discontinued ZS T, along with its 17-inch alloy wheels.

As for the interior, if you've owned an MG ZS T, then this is exactly the same interior that you'll get. There's a new dash with more soft-touch plastics and a whole lot of red stitching details. You also get a large 10.1-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a fully digital instrument cluster, electronic parking brake, panoramic sunroof, black and red leather seats with an embossed MG logo on the headrests, just to name a few. Finally, exclusive to the Lux variant is a 360-degree camera system.

While the fundamental design has been upgraded, the engine of the 2024 MG ZS remains unchanged. As mentioned earlier, gone is the turbocharged ZS T, and what you're left with is the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated gas engine as before, which means it still produces 114 horsepower and 150 Newton-meters of torque. Replacing the antiquated four-speed Aisin-sourced automatic is a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) with eight simulated gears.

The 2024 MG ZS is now on sale across all of its dealerships nationwide at the following prices: ZS LUX CVT – P1.088 million (new); and ZS COM CVT – P918,888 (new).

Oddly enough, the pre-facelift MG ZS is still going to be offered in the brand's lineup, though these are probably just the remaining stocks of this iteration of the ZS: MG ZS Alpha AT (automatic transmission) P1.048 million; ZS Style AT – P898,888; ZS Style MT (manual transmission) – P848,888.
